GET OUT THE VOTE COMMENTARY

According to the Rio Rancho Journal, Sandoval County had the lowest primary election turnout in over 30 years with about 10% of eligible voters casting ballots. How can we take back this country if more of us don’t participate in the democratic process? The General Election is on Tuesday, November 7. That’s right around the corner and it is up to us to support our Democratic candidates.

What can you do? If you aren’t registered, please do so before Tuesday, October 10th so you can vote in the General Election. Keep in mind that if you moved or had a name change you’ll need to re-register. If it’s easier to vote by mail, simply request an application by calling the Sandoval County Clerks office at 867-7577 or 867-7574. You can also vote early from Tuesday, October 10th until Saturday, November 4th. Call the clerk’s office for early voting locations.

Check with your neighbors, relatives and friends and encourage them (if they are not registered) to get registered and most of all to get out and vote!

PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED INFORMATION

If you would like to register voters, please go to the County Clerks office to become a voter registration agent. The process is quick and simple. Call the Sandoval County Clerk, Bureau of Elections office at 867-7577 or 867-7474 for more details. The Sandoval County Clerk's office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is located at 711 Camino del Pueblo in Bernalillo.
