CD1 Voters: Be aware! Special Election 

On June 1, 2021, a muy importante special election is being held for the CD1 Congressional seat left vacant by Congresswoman, Deb Haaland, who is now the Secretary of the Interior in the Biden administration.

The best person to fill that seat is MELANIE STANSBURY. She sits now in the New Mexico House of Representatives & in her time there, has worked hard to pass 14 pieces of legislation: improving education, resilience in water & food systems, economic opportunity, public safety, and healthcare issues. Stansbury uses her scientific background in her decision-making process. She has helped address basic needs during the pandemic. State Representative Stansbury knows the urgency of needing real solutions to help New Mexico families through the pandemic and everyday life.

She has worked in Washington, DC as a staffer at the White House Office of Management and Budget as well as on the Energy & Natural Resources Committee. Stansbury also was a policy consultant with President Obama’s Budget Committee. As a career scientist and educator, who better to help solve land & water issues & to work on global climate change?

Stansbury has heart, determination, technological/scientific experience & love of our communities. Her primary focuses are: systemic poverty, the climate crisis, social justice & equality, healthcare & tribal nations’ rights & issues.
