DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF SANDOVAL COUNTY ELECTS OFFICERS

Alexandria “Alex” Piland, Rio Rancho, is the new Democratic Party of Sandoval County Chair.  Elected on March 20th, she will serve for two years.  Isaac Chavez, Algodones, was elected Vice-Chair.

Piland is an educator, union organizer, and activist who has worked tirelessly for the Democratic Party of Sandoval County.  A graduate of Emerge New Mexico Class of 2019, she brings twenty years of organizing experience to party leadership. She is a two-term President of the Sandoval County Federation of Democratic Women.

“My goal is to continue to be inclusive, transparent and create and implement a model of a County Democratic Party that is a welcoming, forward-thinking, and always  works to serve the citizens of Sandoval County well,” Piland said.

Chavez is an honor graduate of Bernalillo High and studied agriculture engineering at Purdue University.  He works for the family business, Bernalillo Feed, and looks forward to increasing participation by young people and helping to keep voters well informed in his new position as County Vice Chair.

Douglas Clark, Corrales, was reappointed as Treasurer and Judy Gordon, Bernalillo, was appointed Secretary. County members of the Democratic Party of New Mexico State Committee were also elected.  Precinct and Ward Chairs were elected the week prior. The following ward leaders were elected: Ward A, Chris Daul, Placitas; Ward B, Theresa Trujeque, Corrales; Ward C, Pat Gallegos, Cuba; Ward D, Leah Ahkee Baczkiewicz, Rio Rancho, and Ward E, Ed Lovato, Rio Ranch
