Dr. Karissa McCall Culbreath, Rio Rancho city councilor and a medical researcher, will serve as the headline speaker.

The primary speaker will feature Dr. Karissa McCall Culbreath, a city councilor in Rio Rancho. Karissa Culbreath is a passionate leader with a focus on serving others to achieve the goal of healthy individuals, healthy families and healthy communities. Karissa is a Medical Director of Infectious Disease at TriCore She has worked at TriCore since 2010 where she oversees the largest infectious disease diagnostics laboratory in the state of New Mexico. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Karissa was a leader on the pandemic response. She has been featured by local media, The Today Show, CNN, the New York Times, Roland Martin Unfiltered, and numerous other national media outlets. As a fierce advocate of science education in students, Karissa is a member of the Board of Directors at Explora, an innovative STEM experiential learning center in Albuquerque. She has been a featured speaker for Explora, the New Mexico Out of School Time Network, and others, discussing how STEM education advances opportunities for individuals and communities. In 2020 she was appointed to the City Councilor for Rio Rancho District 5 by Mayor Gregg Hull. She is a member of several community organizations and is an Associate Pastor for Ministries and Community Engagement at New Covenant Worship Center. By far, her greatest achievement is in her personal life – she is blessed to share her life with her husband, daughter, and son.
