Ms. Stansbury is a proud New Mexican who has spent her career working to protect our lands and waters. She currently represents New Mexico’s 28th House District and is running to be the next Congresswoman from the 1st Congressional District.

Ms. Stansbury is a scientist and politician. As a New Mexico State Representative, Ms.Stansbury has passed legislation focused on addressing childhood hunger, modernizing our electric grid, fostering resilience in our water and food systems, improving education, expanding economic opportunity and public safety, and improving access to healthcare and using sound science decision-making. She sponsored legislation to exempt Social Security from state income taxes.

She has worked as a science educator, researcher, and advisor on land and water issues focused on New Mexico’s water needs and our rivers’ resilience and in the Office of Management and Budget and the U.S. Senate in the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources during the Obama Administration.

Ms. Stansbury earned a B.A. in Sociology from Saint Mary’s College in California and a Master in Science from Cornell University.
